ActiveX
A set of technologies used in network that helps to associate components.

Background program
A program that user cannot see while he is using another program (foreground program). A lot spyware programs are called background programs.

Browser
A tool created to view html source code to end user. A browser allows world wide web users reach websites all over the world.

Client Server
Client-Server model divides communicating applications into two categories, depending on where application is waiting for message or where user inputs the message. Commonly, application making peer-to-peer connection is called client. Server gets a query of a client and submits results to client. A computer that uses shared network resources provided by another computer (server) is called client.

Cookies
A device holding data on a remote computer. Need to know when was the last time user visited your page? You can get such information using cookies.

Dialog box
A window with buttons and options which leads you to execute one task or another.

Encrypted password
A desultory sequence of symbols that keeps original password in order nobody can capture it.

Firewall
Utility that makes system secure, preventing it from unauthorized access from external network.

FTP
File Transfer Protocol, a part of TCP/IP set of protocols, used to transfer files from one computer to another. The computer transferring files is called client, the computer that contains downloadable files is called server.

HTTP
A protocol that allows to communicate on internet, to reach web sites by adding address to address bar area (www.spynomore.net)

Install
An action when a set of files are copied on your hard disk and related data information is written into registry. All this information aggregates and makes one program (software) that is ready to use.

Internet
A world wide network of computers.

Internet Service Provider ISP
A company that supplies access to internet by providing user with username and password.

IP address
A unique number that every machine of internet consumer has in order to identify him.

Registry
A database that stores configuration of a computer.

Remote computer
A computer that you can reach using communication devices.

Security
The way system protects your data from capture or making damage.

Session
Process beginning after you login and ending after you logout.

Software
Computer programs and related documentation.

System
A set of components that are working together to reach a goal. The main system features are: reliability (describes how user relies on system), protection (system ability to protect itself from external attacks), workability using it. Huge systems operate many years and development costs a lot.

Task Manager
Utility used to display running programs, processes, applications on your machine. Using Task Manager user is able to kill (end) program and processes.

TCP IP
(Transmission control protocol/Internet protocol) became standard in communicating system. Computer systems use TCP/IP all over the world because protocol gives high level communication and involve much more web technologies than other known protocol set. TCP/IP involves many application protocols for services like remote login and e-mail or file transfer. TCP/IP allows programmer to establish connection between the applications and send data backwards and forwards. Thus TCP/IP supplies peer-to-peer connection.

URL
Uniform Resource Locator - a set of symbols you can interlink web site by adding it to address bar area on internet browser.

Vermin
An infected object that comes on machine on purpose to make user annoy, make damage to the data, gather private information about user. Other definitions for vermin: pest, parasite.
